Supply and installation of PV systems with the NET METERING mechanism and new LED luminaires in 8 buildings of the Municipality of Heraklion

PROJECT SUMMARY

MES Energy S.A. undertook and completed the project of supplying and installing eight photovoltaic systems with a total power of 151.19 kWp with the Net Metering mechanism as well as the replacement of existing luminaires with LED luminaires in eight buildings (Schools, Disability Certification Centres, Open Care Centres for the Elderly) of the Municipality Heraklion, Crete.

The eight buildings constitute the “Buildings-Representatives” of representative typologies of the municipal buildings of the Municipality of Heraklion, resulting from the Integrated Management Support for Energy efficiency in Mediterranean Public Buildings-Impulse Program (1MED15_2.1_M2_178), which has been included in the European Territorial Cooperation Programme “INTERREG MED” in which the Municipality of Heraklion participated.

The Net Metering mechanism is based on energy offsetting of energy consumed and now enables buildings to use solar energy on the one hand to offset a large part of the electricity consumed!

At the same time, the replacement of lamps with new technology LED lamps contributes significantly to the energy consumed.
